click on Control Panel. Choose
Add/Remove Programs.

Forward Lookup Zones
-Primary Zones
1. Go to the Control Panel again, and choose
Administrative Tools.
2. Click on the icon labeled DNS to open the
program and click on the "+" beside the name of your computer.

3. Right-Click on Forward Lookup Zone and choose
New Zone.

4. Click next to continue
and choose Standard Primary, because this will set up the primary domain name
for your network. Click next again.

5. Type in the name of
your zone, for example "group1.com" and click Next.
6. You will see a screen that puts your zone
under a file name with .dns at the end of it. (for example
"group1.com.dns") Click Next again.
7. You will see a screen with your information
on it. Verify that this is the information that you want and Click Finish.

8. One problem for DNS that can occur is that no
other computer on the network recognizes the DNS server. If this happens be
sure that all of the computers have the IP address (addresses) for the DNS
server(s) set in their TCP/IP properties.
9. If the network uses DHCP, then the DHCP
server must send the DNS information to all the computers that request an
address.
-Secondary Zones
1. Right-Click on Forward Lookup Zone and choose
New Zone.
2. Click next to continue
and choose Standard Secondary, because this will set up the secondary domain
name for a network that is connected to yours. Click next again.

3. Type in the name of the
secondary zone, for example "group2.com" and click Next.
4. Type in the IP address
of the DNS servers that are to be contacted. Click Add after each address is
typed. Then click Next.
5. Confirm that the
information is correct, then click Finish and the secondary zone is ready!
Reverse Lookup Zones
-Primary Zones
1. Right-Click on Reverse Lookup Zone and choose
New Zone.
2. Click next to continue
and choose Standard Primary, and click Next again.

3. Type in the network ID or the name of the
zone, click Next. You will see the netword ID backwards with
"in-addr.arpa.dns"
added to it. (example of a network ID could be 172.16.0.)

4 . Make sure that you
create a new file using the name that is given to you, and click Next.
5. Read the screen to confirm your settings, and
click Finish. Now the Reverse Lookup Zone is set up.

Now you can enjoy using your DNS methods of
being connected to other computers!!
